Ban Holi, please?

Yeah, I’m blogging on another festival. I know this is seriously getting weird, I was gonna blog about this on Thursday but the 11 hour power cut did not help me. I hate you NEA! Another rant, don’t hate me for it, hate the system. :) First of all, I’ll give you guys some background info about Holi, or else you won’t understand anything. Holi is another one of the 200 festivals that we Hindus have, it’s about all about celebrating good winning over evil, you know the usual. In this festival we’re supposed to be playing with colours and water with our family and friends.
In my great city though, things are a little different. Boys and little kids start celebrating a week or so ahead and hit girls with GIANT WATER BALLOONS OR PLASTIC BAGS FILLED WITH WATER. And I just happen to be a girl(if it wasn’t obvious by all the hideous pink here), and all my friends with whom I go to school with are girls. So since they don’t hit girls with guys(yet another reason for girls to get a freaking boyfriend), my best friend Sam’s dad came to pick us up for a week and left me and my other best friend Pema at the bus station. Yeah, imagine a dozen school girls in school uniforms, huddling around a really tall guy. That’s what we all looked like.
The guys were hitting other girls with water balloons(we call them lolas), not us because of Sam’s dad.
At the bus station we parted ways, I got into a micro van. The place where I sat had its window open but didn’t bother to close it. So, half way home some guy throws a lola at me. Yes, I was in a vehicle at the time and if it had hit the driver everyone in the vehicle could have died, and death is not a nice thing people. It didn’t hit me though, just missed me by a couple of inches.
The funniest thing about that was that the poor woman siting next to me looked like she going to have a heart attack or something! Poor old woman. Anyways so I got to my stop and started heading home when I saw a bunch of kids with HUGE WATER BALLOONS. I mean like 3-4 kids with HUGE WATER BALLOONS. Not even the cute little ones. So of course I get scared and start cursing like a pirate because if you’re hit once, they won’t leave you till you’re dripping wet. I don’t like getting dripping wet.
So, I did what I had to do, I trespassed into a couple of people’s houses, walked all over this guy’s garden, jumped over a fence, walked all over some other guy’s farm, sneaked through some guy’s construction place and ran home. All to avoid getting hit by water balloons.
Did I mention that what they’re doing is ILLEGAL? Plenty of kids have been jailed for throwing water balloons, but do they stop? Oh no, they’re too stupid to do something like that.
I blame their parents too, why would you give money to your kids to wet a bunch of girls? Do you want them behind bars? But of course it’s not their fault if their kids buy water balloons with their lunch money………
Whatever, it’s illegal and sexist, so I’m proposing to ban Holi till the actual date. I mean a REAL ban, not a fake one or even better ban water balloons, you’ll save water and the environment, wouldn’t that be great?
BTW, did you hear about the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Chile? That’s so scary, my heart goes out to all of those people in there. A lot of people say that a huge earthquake will hit us here in Kathmandu too, so I’m scared.

Aall Iz Bhell!

Happy Lhosar(every Tibetan is a year older now), Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year everyone! Yup, I only blog on some kind of a occasion! I’m weird that way. I haven’t replied to any comments or anything, so yeah I’m horrible. But I have a couple of really good excuses for that, so here they go: No internet (my mom refused to pay saying we don’t have enough money later she bought me a really cute sweater that cost double the money of the internet bill hmm ), 11 hours of no electricity, too much of home-work, too much of hanging out with friends and too much of laziness. Isn’t being lazy the most awesome thing?! :D I did go to a cyber cafe and return the comments but there was this guy sitting next to me and well, it just got really gross and I left after 10 minutes of sitting there. But I’m here now and did a lot of updates, they’re all in the sidebar.

So life has been amazing (aside from home-work of course), I’ve been having a lot of fun with my friends lately. I also watched this Bollywood movie 3 Idiots (almost half the people of Nepal understand Hindi, so I know three languages Nepali, English and Hindi!) and it was really good, it’s based on the rat-race type of education that people get in India which is really similar to Nepal too. It showed how mugging up everything will not really get you anywhere, you need to really understand whatever it is that is being taught and also that you should follow your heart and do what you love. Where I live parents think that there are only three professions: being a doctor, engineer or pilot. If you score above the eighties, congrats! you’re going to be a doctor or a CA or an engineer, no one will ask you what you want to be, oh no it’s all about being freaking doctor and earning tons of cold hard cash, so yeah these kind of movies try to say that to really be we should be allowed to follow our dreams and do what our passion is and hopefully our parents will know that there are other professions out there. Oh I almost forgot, the title is from the movie, Rancho(the protagonist) says that when things are getting hard fool your heart into thinking that all is well and tackle it head on. Nice huh?

Goodbye ‘09

It’s the new year! WHOOT! Seems like every time I blog it’s some kind of an occasion! wow, that was actually a good year after two crappy-shitty ones. Lots of great things happened in the past year, I’ve gotten closer to my best friends and I’d like to think that I’ve grown as a person too. So yeah, it’s been a great year and I’m hoping that 2010 will be even better. Like many other people here’s my list of resolutions for 2010:
Spend more time with my family and friends.
Get my grades up by 5 percent.
Find ten great musicians I haven’t heard before with the help of last.fm
Punch my brother in the face at least once.
Watch Twilight without barfing.
Piss off people who piss me off.
Get this site more popular.
Get more useful stuff up.
Great a new hair-cut without worrying about what other people might think.
Buy clothes that I like for once!

Well that’s not really all of them but I can’t think of anything else, so I’ll try to stick with all of them.
Do you guys have any resolutions?

I’m baaack! Oh, and Merry Christmas!

Hey loves, I’m back from my long long hiatus and I’d like to wish all of you Christians out there a very Merry Christmas and here’s your gift:

You’d better like it ’cause I spent like 2 hours(?!) making that. I wanted to make a separate one for my affiliates, since you know, they’re awesome but I just spent two hours of trying to do something that would make people go wow and ended up making absolutely nothing. Any ways, so I haven’t really had enough time to upload everything but I will, I need two days’ time. I’m also gonna be removing some icons and clean up my pages. On top of that, I now have this great urge to do reviews, I’ll probably start doing that from Monday, I think!
Well, nothing’s happening with me lately, just have a month long winter holiday, you’ll probably see tons of new stuff now!
It’s getting late and I’ve got to get some sleep now.
Goodnight people!
Love
Priyanka.

Okay, so I know that most pages have not been put up yet but since my exams are like in 13 days, I NEED to study. I have to study. My grades have been going down lately, so I really have to study. So, that means that I will not be updating this site until the 24 of this month. Affiliates don’t delete me, ’cause I’ll be getting tons of stuff up when I come back. Here’s what I have in mind:
New layout(this one is killing me)
5 new blends
5 new brush sets
10 new PS Actions
10 new icons
10 new tutorials
Get all pages up

And with that I’ll also get some new content. I’ve also been thinking about writing articles but I don’t know, should I? Anywho, all of that will be a lot of work but I’ll do it all ;). See ya at the 24th!
